Final Major Project: Framing Options – Experiments with a Laser Cutter – Framing

Exploring options for framing, I decided to use CAD software and the laser cutter at school.


I designed the frames to appear like Instagram posts.

I used 6mm poplar plywood as this cuts well on the laser cutter. The red lines are engraved on the surface of the material and the black lines are cut through. The settings are shown below:-


The resultant mini frames with different degrees of laser engraving intensity and different aperture sizes for the image:-

In hindsight, the engraving seems too obvious. the image could work without any text. There is still work to be done here if this is decided to be the way forward.
