images shot in this experiment are not what they seem.  The two images on the left are shots of the laminate coating on a desk from Ikea.  


The Hipstamatic filters have given the images the appearance of something more expensive.


The right-hand side top and bottom image are even more surprising.  They are photographs of a decaying piece of plywood.  The filters and decay combined have transformed the ordinary into something quite extraordinary.   This is enhanced by the use of the macro feature and manual zoom controls.  This is quite a successful use of Hipstamatic.
