Sustainable Prospects – ‘The Masks We Wear’ Project Information Sheet for Participants
In preparation for the photoshoots of my volunteers, I have prepared a one-page guide on the intended process of the shoot. The text for the information guide is…
THE MASKS WE WEAR PROJECT
Each of us has things we do not reveal to the world – illness, depression, sadness, PTSD etc. We wear a mask every day to face the world and keep who we really are hidden. This includes me.
You will receive a digital copy of a portrait from the session as a thank you.
PROCESS
On arrival to the studio or location, you will be given a form to complete and a mask to write on. I will then take a few portrait shots of you.
The Mask – the words you choose to share on your mask are what are behind the mask – my mask is available for you to look at. There is no pressure to write everything on the mask, only what you feel you can share with others.
The Portraits – I will take several portrait shots of you. These include: –
the face you present to the world
you holding the mask in front of your face
ideally, the face behind the mask. If like me, you find this too hard, then it will be a portrait of your hands in front of your face.
I will make sure that I have images of you that work for both of us.
The Form – the form has 2 purposes.
Firstly, it is a model release permission form to allow me to use the images in my MA Project, physically and online. There are a few options for you to select as I understand that you may not be comfortable sharing the images with everyone.
Secondly, there are a few questions that I would like you to answer if you can.
These really help my research project and help me to understand why masks are essential for so many of us.
THANK YOU for agreeing to take part in this work.
