Final Major Project: Instagram and Plastic Surgery

A video published on 23rd June 2018 explores the rise of plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures that are posted on Instagram. The typical patients are women who are chasing the perfect face and the flawless selfie. Many women use photo editing apps before moving onto cosmetic procedures.

In the video, one participant studies her selfies and comments about one in particular “Wow! I really like this photo … I wish I looked like this in real life”. This is, unfortunately, becoming a typical response to online images that are edited or may have filters applied. And everyone else looks at those images and tries to match the standard set.
